THE HIDDEN BENEFITS OF HAVING TEAM RETREATS

For some organisations, the work hours are long and sometimes, a break from the work is the best form of rest. Burnout can be avoided if we remember to pause and take breaks.

For us at WAVE, our team retreat which happened earlier this year was an opportunity to recharge ourselves for creating more impact.

Sometimes organisations may not know the advantage of having a retreat, but we have put together reasons why you should consider a team retreat.

1. It promotes team bonding

Taking into consideration the way 2020 turned out and a lot of people having to work remotely for some time, there is the tendency to get bored and for the work to get monotonous.

The necessary human interaction that aids our work was not available, but what a retreat does is to reignite and reenergize team members by fostering team bonding avenues and human experiences that make working together much easier.

2. It helps people realign on the company vision

A retreat is a chance for employees to remind themselves of the company vision and goals. It helps remind everyone of why they do what they do, and why their work is important in achieving the overarching goals of the organisation.

Activities centred around walking through the company mission and vision, talking through it; what it means for individuals would help achieve this goal.

3. It gives room for all-round feedback

Retreats create an atmosphere where employees can give honest and clear feedback. Ordinarily, people should be able to share feedback where necessary, notwithstanding, a retreat also provides an environment for clear and honest feedback.

Feedback is a critical point of growth that helps individuals and the organisation emphasize what they are doing right, and areas they can improve on.

4. It's an opportunity for brainstorming and idea generation

People can gather together and share ideas that would improve organisational goals. It allows for a wide range of ideas that can be pieced together to come up with strategies that would point to the organisation's goals.

Summarily, the benefits of a retreat continue even after the retreat, and taking breaks would always create opportunities to get the best out of your team.

Another way to improve employee performance is by training, and our corporate training team can help you improve employee performance to aid productivity.
