20-year-old Roseline Oladunjoye, an SSCE holder and a batch 45 alumna of WAVE who lives in Ikotun heard about the training through a friend. At that time, she had just finished from Secondary School and was looking for a job while learning to tailor on the side.
She made the decision to attend the training to improve her chances of getting a job and because she wanted to learn employability skills that were not accessible to her in other places.
Although arriving on time and communicating with other people was a challenge for her during the training, Roseline made some progress after the training; "training was impactful because it improved my confidence and communication skills, I can walk up to anyone and have a conversation with them. I have also learned how to ease in and out of conversations."
She job shadowed at "Office Everything", a store that caters to everything concerning office supplies where she worked as a Sales Representative. Roseline shared that she enjoyed working there because she was able to learn from members of the team.
It took Roseline a month after her job shadow to get a job as a Sales Representative at "In Vogue" a fashion store for ladies. She enjoys it because of the working environment.
Communication skills also came in handy during her interview for her current job which she has been on for about a year. Skills like multitasking and effective communication with customers are necessary for her job and she is happy to have learned them at WAVE.
Roseline hopes to invest in equipment to start a fashion design business. Her advice to job seekers is to attend the WAVE training because they would get the opportunity to learn employability skills.
